Abstract:Review of recent takeovers and acquisitions among conglomerates in the U.K. Various elements of the takeover battles and the strategic reasons. How investment institutions were drawn in, due to their shareholdings in the duelling companies: BTR and Thomas Tilling and a contested takeover bid. The mistakes made by Tilling and how the two companies can integrate their activities. The other subject deals with a detailed evaluation of capital investment in Britoil, the U.K. offshore oil and gas company.
