Abstract:Australian broadcasting service helped BBC to transmit news and reports on Fiji during the coup. Programs were satellited to Radio Australia transmitter site and broadcast from there to Fiji on a special frequency. Fiji Television Corporation (FTC) planned to start TV broadcasting just before the political turmoil happened but the plan was suspended and the employees were dismissed. The reopening depends on the improvement of circumstances.
