Abstract:The most talented employees are often a company's chief asset, but many organisations do not properly develop and motivate such people. Philip Sadler looks at common failings, and profiles an American company, Mreck, that has developed a successful formula for managing talent. At both national and at corporate level top decision-makers pay lip service to the idea - "Our people are our greatest assets" - but their actions often tell a different story.
