Abstract: | Every generation of Americans seems to have its "education reform movement." Reformers in each epoch frame the problems in slightly different ways than the previous generation. Eventually the members of each current generation discover what their predecessors discovered: there is something fundamentally flawed in the American system of education - something earlier generations could not fix. There is a crisis in our schools, they find; someone is to blame. |
