| Abstract: | The paper explores the influence of American-trained economists on the adoption of economic policy of privatization. The article discusses the incentives for and drivers of privatization and looks into the diffusion of this policy in the light of social sciences and economics. The results based on a statistical analysis show that the diffusion of privatization in adopting countries was indeed affected by American-trained economists and the broader trends in the economic ideas. |
