Abstract:This paper conducts a study of earning of mothers in different groups of countries. A comparison of long-term earnings is made of women with children, women without children, and men. The study involves separate analyses for less educated, moderately educated, and highly educated people in eight Anglo-American, continental European, and Nordic countries. The findings show that mothers in the continental European group are experiencing the largest earnings differentials, mothers in the Nordic group are experiencing the smallest, and mothers in the Anglo-American group have the smallest earnings differentials.
