Abstract:The latest round of restructuring in the world health-care industry is more radical than any that has gone before. Doctors, hospitals, drug firms and medical-equipment makers are all working together to provide more integrated services and cut the soaring cost of health care. In 1994 the industry had 1, 100 acquisitions and mergers worth a total of USD 60 billion, according to Windhovers' Health Care Strategist, a newsletter. This year the total is expected to be higher still.
