Abstract:A factor structure is assessed to measure ocupational commitment based on responses of employees in a variety of occupations within a single organization. The analysis shows that three forms of occupational commitment are distinguishable accros occupations: affective, continuance and normative commitment. Correlates of the three-component model and differences in occupational commitment levels across occupations were also examined. Relating differentially to a variety of variables the three forms of occupational commitment provides further evidence for J. P. Meyer et al.'s model's construct validity.
