FUTURE
ENERGY INDUSTRY
Language:eng
Abstract:Today the Estonian energy sector basically depends on fossil fuels, both on imported and domestic ones. Estonian domestic fuels are oil shale (985 of electricity production bases on combustion thereof), peat and wood. All other fuels are imported. The share of domestic fuels in the total primary energy supply is about 70%. The real hydro potential is less than 1% of the present power generation capacity, and there are no nuclear reactors. The wind potential is quite remarkable, especially on the islands.
