Abstract: | Circumstances have forced a growing class division between top and bottom of the executive ladder; chief executives being handsomely paid for their so-called entrepreneurial flair and organisation men penalised for not having any. While some experts think that the recent wave of executive redundancies is a one-time phenomenon, others believe that it is a harbinger of future and perhaps more severe cuts, and that without more downsizing, United States industry will remain uncompetitive. |
