Abstract:Acquisitions of USA companies by the British has enormously increased recently. Foreign acquirers, and particularly the British, are overbidding on a lot of these deals. Today's buyers of assets believe that the dollar will not significantly weaken against pound sterling. This policy is based on the principle that financial diversification is part of corporate strategy. Some British company groups will bid high because they cannot stand the pain of losing some long-sought strategic target. Success at current high prices will require brilliant implementation of strategy, even more spending and improved management skills.
