Abstract:Mass defection of banking and managerial talent from big outfits has resulted in rival shops on a cottage industry scale in America. They have acquired the term "boutiques" - to distinguish them form financial department stores. A few experienced professionals opt for independence and pass their pre-retirement years as consultants and advisors. This tendency of expanding "boutiques" have effected USA financial and business world in an extent that nobody foresaw. Earlier merchant bankers could rely on the old school tie. That cosy world has given way to a modern insouciance about client confidence and care.
