Abstract: | The paper deals with problems arising in the U.S. health care due to the high cost of serving an aging population, the lack of incentives for prevention and the growing number of uninsured people. Then the paper concentrates on efforts to achieve greater efficiency by changing the contractual relations between the payor or the patient and the provider. Since these results have mixed results, competition should supplement the new mechanisms to eliminate excess capacities. |
