| Abstract: | This paper evaluates the circumstances under which trading relationships between two countries will lead their business cycles to become more synchronized. Authors use a highly disaggregated data set that includes information on the industrial structure of each country, as well as detailed information on the industry composition of trade. They examine the extent to which the composition of a country's production and trade differs among its trade partners. They found that industrialized countries production structure tends to be similar to that of the rest of the world, and her export and import baskets are similar among all trading partners. |
