Abstract: | Current beliefs about work among Saudi and Iraqi managers were examined. 203 Iraqi and 132 Saudi managers completed questionnaires used to measure their belief systems. Iraqi managers show greater commitment to egalitarian and humanistic beliefs, and are less individualistic than Saudi managers. Furthermore, country affiliation, rather than demographic and organizational variables, is found to be important in determining beliefs about work. The principles of sample selection are described. A detailed description of survey population is provided. The main categories of the belief system in the questionnaire are described and analyzed (e.g. work ethics, organizational, humanistic, Marxist-related, leisure). |
