Abstract: | It would be erroneous to maintain that strategy as a concept is new. In fact, it is rooted historically in both military and political usage. Thucydides was named a strategies, or general of the armies, in about 424 B.C. at the time of the Peloponnesian wars between Athens and Sparta. More recently, the concept has been put to use in work on private sector positioning for competitive advantage, although it is no less significant for navigating any unit of enterprise toward a position as a long-term winner. |
