Abstract: | This paper presents a multi-level organizing framework of institutional influences on FDI, examining the differential effect of the forces at two points of time, that's prior to a first investment and upon subsequent investments. It is assumed that on initial entry, firms are primarily impacted by coercive host country pressures, industry mimeticism, and internal firm norms. These influences are expected to change on subsequent entries with normative forces being the most salient. |
