Abstract:This paper explores the influence of the extent of institutional embeddedness of different national contexts on the human resource management (HRM) activities of multinational companies (MNCs) based on extensive survey data from four countries: Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the U.K. There is found evidence of differences in HRM practices btw. foreign- and domestic-owned MNCs, and also btw. MNCs and domestic organizations etc.
