Abstract:This paper aims is to identify the factors determining a business organization's use of an intermediary when buying convention packages and meeting services. The data are based on a case of a public organisation responsible for promoting and intermediating meetings, incentives, contentions and events (MICE) services provided by small and medium-sized tourism organizations in southern Finland. An online questionnaire was used for the data collection and a total of more than 220 responses. In order to analyse the research results, explorative factor analysis was used. There are suggested to be three distinct factors as determinants of the phenomenon, that is, i. "Attractive convention packages", ii. "Know-how of the personnel", and iii. "Ease of buying a convention package". It is uncovered that iii. package is the primary reason for using the intermediary, whereas the i. package and the ii. have a much lower effect.
