Abstract:This article seeks to find new insights and questions concerning the research of companies' corporate social strategies by comparing two theories of the firm used to interpret them. So far the studies have often relied on fundamentally different theoretical approaches, but this paper identifies, compares and starts to integrate two competing theories of the firm: the resource-based and behavioural. The author considers the implications of these two theories for researchers and practitioners and suggests new approaches for future research.
