Abstract:While knowledge continues to be prominent on the strategic agenda of leading consulting firms, many knowledge management (KM) challenges stay unsolved. In order to elucidate this matter, this paper aims to examine how KM is really embedded in their organizations and with which critical issues these consulting firms still grapple.
Based on a qualitative empirical study using nearly 40 in-depth interviews with representatives from international consulting firms in different locations, it is found that the promise of KM can only be realized if people are open to changing business processes, adopting new ways of thinking.
