| Abstract: | The article discusses the strengths and weaknesses in the development of innovations in the USA, Japan, the Federal Republic of Germany and Finland. The analysis is based on the following success factors which - according to the author - determine the success in the development of innovations: knowledge, integration, leeway and commitment. Integration above in most cases means integration of knowledge. Leeway means physical, mental and financial leeway. Commitment is often connected with motivation, readiness to take risks, solidarity and long term efforts. The main result of the article is that the strengths and weaknesses in the development of innovations depend on the cultural traditions of the country. |
