Abstract:Adventure experiences are usually examined from a viewpoint of interpreting risk and uncertainty. In this study, the concepts of the patrticipants' comfort during an adventure-based experience (recreational SCUBA diving) are examined by interviews. The results reveal physical, social, psychological and visual context of comfort within SCUBA diving. In addition, it is suggested that themes that reflect comfortable experiences are important to recreational SCUBA diving and also the broader context on leisure.
