| Abstract: | In the workplace, racial issues receive serious attention, with companies striving for greater awareness and deeper understanding. Many approaches to managing diversity at work focus on increasing whites' understanding of minority groups, but there is a complementary strategy: enhancing whites' understanding of the complexity and subtlety of their own biases. Suggesting a focus on the attitudes and behaviors of the majority group does not imply that whites are the only problem. Minorities have biases too, but the white majority can produce significant positive change if it chooses to put its resources behind an issue. |
