Abstract:Many organizations that caught TQM fever during the late 1980's and early 1990's have come down with a bad case of Excessive Activity Syndrome or EAS. EAS is a deadly organizational disease that is spreading through quality improvement initiatives. Researchers and practitioners are regularly discovering new symptoms of EAS, so it is difficult to identify and describe all of the possible indications. The author describes 5 symptoms along with implementation remedies to consider for improving the prognosis for an ailing activity oriented TQM approach.
