Abstract:Research has shown that trends from very different areas cannot be seen as being independent of one another. Rather, they must be integrated to form a unified system known as metatrends. This realization leads to the following conclusion: while significant achievements have arisen through individual information technologies with the capabilities of their applications in the last few years, further progress will require the determined combination of these technologies in their applications.
