| Abstract: | Because of the fierce competition on an international level, manufacturing firms need to establish demand-based operations that do not lead to excessive levels of inventory. High inventories can translate into lost opportunities due to their depletion of available resources. The use of assembly line pacing is discussed as a means for 'effectively' utilizing resources to respond to changing customer demands. |
