Abstract: | There are close relationships between art and social science. This is certainly one of the features that has attracted many scholars to engage in the economics of the arts. One of the striking similarities is the sequence in which an artistic or scientific "movement" develops over time. In their contribution to this special issue, Leslie Singer and Gary Lynch (1997) distinguish three phases of the development of a major art movements as identified by art historians. |
