Abstract:This review of methods shows enermous differences in the ways of designing and conducting telephone surveys of the public to obtain information about the population. The review provides comparative information and stimulates discussion about different methodologies. The survey suggests that not much thought to the possible weaknesses of the methods used have not given by the user companies. The most striking finding was the complete absence of consensus on almost all aspects of sampling and weighting.
