| Abstract: | This article examines the role of class size in the performance of students, combining school fixed effects and instrumental variables to determine random class-size variation between two adjacent grades within individual schools. The estimation is done in 11 countries. The authors find material class-size effects only in countries with relatively low teacher salaries. |
