Abstract:This paper presents the results of a two-country study of 9 multinational companies (MNCs) questioning the use of measures such as return-on-investment (ROI). It is reframed how international assignments are considered. The concept of intellectual capital is contended to be best capturing the true worth of international assignments to organizations and individuals.
