Abstract:The use of flexible technology by companies has considerably changed their degree of automation and improved the output of production units. This observation serves as basis for the analysis of the many and varied effects of new technologies on production systems. It is foreseen that this sector will benefit from major new investments, until now fairly limited because of their high cost and uncertainty. Automation, though sometimes it is risky, expensive and difficult to appreciate, is inevitable in companies that must become "intelligent" or cease to exist.
