Abstract:The privatization policy of the British Conservative Party is discussed. Reasons for pursuing this policy are described. Main goal is to increase competition. The situation in the British Airways prior to privatization is analyzed. The organization had become introspective and overresourced. There was a lack of commercial awareness and a low level of morale. The general lessons of the case are summarized. Privatization is described as injecting vigour into an organization, attracting dynamic high-quality managers and enhancing the motivation of the work force.
