Abstract:An inventory system with one central warehouse and a number of local retailers facing independent random demand is considered. Transportation lead times are constant and deterministic. The facilities apply continuous review, one-for-one ordering policies. Given these assumptions, it is possible to provide simple recursive procedures to derive the holding and shortage costs of different control policies. These cost expressions then can be used for the efficient determination of an optimal one-for-one replenishment policy.
