Abstract:The methodologies available for the identification of stable strategic time periods, i.e., time periods of strategic homogeneity with regard to competitive strategy behaviour, are explored. Once these periods are identified, then the strategically similar groups are analysed. However, identifying stable time periods is compounded by changes in competitive behaviour along the strategic dimensions, and in the interrelationships between the strategic dimensions. The findings of the study include: there is relative stability in the number of groups in a particular industry and group affiliations significantly change over some period.
