Abstract:History shows that European states underwent many wars in the early modern age. After the wars, Europe surpassed other areas in military power, dividing the world in the age of imperialism. In order to wage wars, the military budgets of European states expanded rapidly and enormously in the 17th and the 18th centuries. By the article author, the term 'Fiscal Military State' is most suitable for describing the European states in the modern age.
