Abstract: | The article deals with issues of travel and tourism of Ghana. In brief, Ghana has struggled to develop a viable tourism industry. However, it still attracts around 330,000 international arrivals annually, out of which the majority are on business or visiting friends and relations (VFR). A United Nations (UN) Development Programme-funded technical support mission, carried out by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), concluded that Ghana ought to be able to attract more than 1 million international arrivals by year 2010, incl. over 500,000 holiday-makers. With the new-found enthusiasm, investment in tourism infrastructure is increasing and tourism is finally being developed. |
