Abstract:The report profiles Northern Ireland as a destination country. At present only 18% of arrivals are holidaying visitors, while business tourism slipped by 7% in 2000 compared to 1999. Much depends on establishing Belfast as a popular city-break destination, capitalising on the publicity of the Stormont parliament and large scale investment projects such as the re-generation of the banks of the River Lagan and the new Odyssey sports/science centre.
