Abstract:In this article the authors consider the main aspects of Russian war finance and analysis the Keynes and Tugan- Baranovsky opinions on this subject. The author states that the importance of Russian gold overseas the issue of vast amounts of inconvertible paper currency in assisting the Bolshevik assumption of power cannot precisely be measured. The author also considers the following subjects: 1) Keynes opinion on Russian war finance 2) The response of the Russian minister of Finance 3) Factors in defence of Keynes's position 4) The consequences of war finance for Russia 5) Tugan-Baranovsky and war finance in 1915 6) Tugan-Baranovsky and war loans 7) War loans and the role of gold after the war. The author also gives data of currency emission and gold reserves in Russia, July 1914 to October.
