Abstract:This paper aims at developing a theoretical framework (henceforth as: t-f-w.) for understanding the structure of effective knowledge sharing (KS) networks (herein as: nets) in professional (as: prof-al.) organizations (as: orgs). In order to achieve insight into the structure of effective KS nets in prof-al. complex systems (here as: c-s.), this study integrates two literature streams, that is, related to i. knwl. nets structure and ii. to prof-al. c-s. This preliminary t-f-w. is used to put forth strategies for knowledge management (KM) and collective learning in prof-al. orgs. It is suggested that effective KS nets in c-s. may be richer in density compared to brokerage. Yet, integrating this analysis with the literature on prof-al. orgs., including "subgoals" theory, suggests that the reverse may be true in prof-al. c-s.
