Abstract:Although it is riskier for companies from small neutral states to do business with companies from dictatorial regimes, it is not helpless. This is proven by the Danish construction company Christiani & Nielsen, which did business with Germany during the Second World War. Compared to Swedish companies, Christiani & Nielsen managed to promote their own interests instead of getting trampled by the Germans. This article concludes that absorption strategy is more effective than forestalling strategy when the aim is to manage risks and minimize exposure.
