Abstract:This report studies the market in France for yoghurts, dairy-based desserts and ice creams. The report discusses sources of supply, market sectors, consumer profile, prices and margins, brands and manufacturers, advertising, promotions and new products, retail distribution and outlook. The market has experienced a trend away from low-fat, healthy products towards traditional, creamy versions. Yoghurts remained the highest value sector in 1992, with a share of almost 45%. Ice cream was the highest growth sector by value over the period, increasing by 45%. Growth in the market for ice cream, yoghurts and chilled desserts has shown no signs of slowing in the eary 1990s. Yoghurts are expected to increase in volume by an annual average of 6%, ice creams by some 4% and chilled desserts by 6-7%.
