Abstract: | This report examines the international retail market for ice cream, yoghurt and chilled desserts in five major countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and UK. The period under review is 1995-1999 for current data and 1999 2004 for the future outlook of the market. All 1999 figures are based on part-year data. Figures in tables are calculated from unrounded data and may not sum. The market is divided into three sectors: ice cream, yoghurt and chilled desserts. Among the main findings are following: 1) Value growth was achieved by further creating variety, new recipes and packaging, and a constant stream of new product innovation. 2) The snacking trend has driven sales of ice cream extensions of well established confectionery brands and portable yoghurts and chilled desserts. |
