Abstract:Danish dairy cooperative MD Foods has changed itself from a production-oriented group to a homogeneous multinational. In the process of altering its identity, MD has also revamped its image. Progress is a bit slower than in some rival companies, but room for financial manoeuvre is probably greater. As a result of high profits, MD Foods finds no difficulty in borrowing to finance its expansion plans. Restructuring involved the dissolution of numbers of the old companies and operating units, and the establishment of four product divisions. MD produces and sells all over the world a wide range of milk products, but profits depend on marketing and distribution.
