| Abstract: | In August 2000, a public opinion survey was carried out among visitors, local residents and representatives of local self-governments in the Podyji/Thaya River Basin National Park territory (here as: terr.) in the Czech Republic aiming to obtain stakeholders' opinions and attitudes towards nature conservation. Using the direct interviews method, 646 questionnaires where collected, 523 out of which were from visitors and tourists, 115 from local residents and 8 from mayors of towns/villages. To find out differences in attitudes among the respondent groups questionnaires were analyzed in thematic areas as follows: 1. the National Park, its environment etc., 2. relationship of respondents to the terr. 3. tourism and attitudes towards recreational activities, 4. the National Park administration and evaluation of its work, 5. economic impact of tourism for local communities (as: comms). The results were dominated by a positive evaluation of the national park. However, some negative attitudes and experiences were identified among locals. In addition, there are also more results reported in detail. |
