Abstract: | Many directors neglect their personal development after being appointed to the board. Neil Merrick reports on efforts to address the problem through a masters degree for company directors and a new series of standards. Within most companies there is likely to be one group of people who have rejected the almost universal drive for greater training and personal development. You will normally find them in the boardroom. Surveys by the Institute of Directors show that more than 90 % of directors have not been involved in any training or development activity since they were appointed to the board. |
