Abstract:This article deals with whether foreign exchange risk can be reduced by operational controls. Particularly, analysed are revenue management practices for five international markets over a period of more than 6 years. Included are Australia, Canada, Italy, the United Kingdom (U.K.), and South Africa.
It is shown among others that ADR (average daily rate), RevPAR (revenue per available room), and occupancy improve in weak currency environments to make up for losses resulting from currency translation etc.
