Abstract:This paper deals with the evaluation of real growth forecasts made by impact studies, using intervention analysis to estimate the ex-post impact of blockbuster exhibits (here as: exhbs.) on economic growth in Jackson, Mississippi, U.S. Non-farm employment measures real economic growth and dummy variables capture the exhbs.' occurrence. Univariate time series techniques are used to identify and estimate a stationary process. The analysis estimates the short run impact on Jackson's filtered employment series due to the blockbuster exhbs. as approximately 700 jobs.
