Abstract: | The political context of strategic planning is discussed. The importance of anticipating underlying political cycles is highlighted. Three cycles are identified in the US. The policy of Democrats and Republicans are compared. Differences are emphasized. Theories about the economic performance in different years of the presidential cycle are discussed. Statistical evidences are analyzed. Planning implications are summarized. Political cycle theory assumes that politicians try to manipulate the economy for electoral advantage. A Republican victory is forecasted for 1988. |
