Abstract:There is an increasing emphasis on auditing and evaluating of university–community partnerships due to the growing importance of community and public engagement (hereafter as: p-e.) activities in universities. A case study of the (U.K.) University of Brighton's (here as: B.) experience of evaluating these partnerships is shown. Based on this experience, a literature review with an analysis of published measurement frameworks, the challenges of measuring community and public engagement are discussed. Presented is also a typology of dimensions for university p-e. A critique of the B. case study and the lessons learned provides a basis for explicating the activities to universities for possible measurement etc.
